The goal of this study is to gather perceptions of Quebec students between 10 and 17 years of age with regards to staying in school and to identify the factors that may influence how they relate to school with an eye toward graduating. During 16 group interviews, participants were asked two questions: What do you like about school? and What do you like less about school? Participants with four different profiles were questioned (n=112). Results are discussed based on issues related to student retention. At school, young people like the social life, physical education, extra-curricular activities, and their teachers. Less appreciated aspects include certain scholar content, the attitude and behaviour of some teachers, and schoolyard bullying. |
